Τhe Greek Language Institute co-organizer of the 12th International Conference on the Greek Language

The Greek Language Institute of the University Centre of Research and Innovation “Temenus” of the University of Western Macedonia participated as a co-organizer of the 12th International Conference on the Greek Language. The Conference took place on 27th, 28th and 29th November 2023. It was organized by the National University of Buenos Aires and the Greek Cultural Organization “Nostos”, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy and the Embassy of Greece in Argentina. Several important organizations and federations representing the Greek language and Greek culture were co-organizers as well.

The Vice-Rector for International Relations, Global Engagement and Lifelong Learning, Professor Eleni Griva, welcomed the conference proceedings and expressed gratitude for the honorable invitation. She noted that the University of Western Macedonia has always supported initiatives and events aimed at promoting the Greek language. She did not miss to acknowledge the significant work that Mrs. Christina Tsardikou, President of the Greek Cultural Organization “Nostos”, has done in carrying out such an important task beyond the borders of Greece.

During the Conference, a round table was held on the topic of “Teaching the Greek Language in the Diaspora: Problems and Didactic Proposals” under the coordination of Mrs. Griva, with Dr. Georgios Vlachos, Coordinator of Greek Language Education at the Consulate General of Johannesburg, Dr. Konstantina Iliopoulou, and Dr. Eleni Korosidou. The discussion focused on issues regarding the Greek language learning, raising concerns and exchanging ideas on the parameters that contribute to the successful teaching of the Greek language in various and diverse cultural contexts.
