Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Western Macedonia and Intracom Telecom

An MoU with multiple and mutual benefits for both the community of the University of Western Macedonia and the staff of Intracom Telecom was signed on Tuesday, 20th February, in Kozani.

Opening a new chapter in research, innovation, education and training, the collaborating bodies work together to address the challenges that are emerging in the new era for both the students and researchers of the university and the staff of Intracom Telecom. Within this framework, their collaboration includes:

  • organisation and provision by the University of Western Macedonia of professional postgraduate study programmes in subjects of special interest to the staff of Intracom Telecom
  • collaboration for the preparation of industrial doctoral theses in cutting-edge technological fields
  • provision of lectures by the staff of Intracom Telecom to the students of UOWM, as well as special lectures by the teaching staff of UOWM to members of the company
  • provision of training programmes by the Centre of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning for the technical staff of Intracom Telecom
  • acquisition of work experience through internships, as well as conducting of research (undergraduate, postgraduate dissertations and doctoral theses) by the university’s students in scientific fields of interest to Intracom Telecom
  • collaboration with UOWM’s Careers Office for the organisation of career days and the promotion of job vacancies at Intracom Telecom
  • the joint participation of UOWM’s and Intracom Telecom’s research laboratories in research programmes in fields of mutual scientific interest

After the signing of the agreement, Prof. Theodoros Theodoulidis, Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, stated: “By signing today’s memorandum of understanding, the ties of the University of Western Macedonia with the labor market and the business world are strengthened further. Through targeted strategies of extroversion, we are developing a wide network of partnerships aimed at the professional rehabilitation of graduates, the research collaboration and the provision of training programmes, addressed to Intracom Telecom’s staff, expecting measurable and multiplying results for the development of our region.”

Mr. Kartlos Edilashvili, CEO of Intracom Telecom, commented: “The strategic partnership with the University of Western Macedonia seals our company’s ongoing support to the academic community and our commitment to promoting innovation in Greece. The memorandum of understanding focuses on creating the appropriate conditions for the further training of the country’s scientific workforce, to be able to develop innovative products“.

Also present at the signing from the University were Prof. Stergios Maropoulos, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation and Prof. Malamati Louta, Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

From Intracom Telecom, the signing was attended by Mrs. Renia Kremali, Group HR Director, Mr. Alexandros Tarnaris, Marketing & Communications Director and Mr. Gerasimos Kalpogiannakis, Business Development Director.
