The University of Western Macedonia is actively contributing to the international promotion of Greek creativity, with Professor Yiannis Ziogas, painter and faculty member of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, curating the national participation of Greece in the 4th International Biennale of Crafts and Artistic Creation “Revelations”, held at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris.
Greece’s participation is part of the outreach actions of the Handicraft Revival Programme, coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and implemented by the Universities of Western Macedonia, Thessaly, and West Attica.
The opening ceremony of “Revelations” was officiated by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, while the Greek national participation was represented by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Iason Fotilas. The coordination of Greece’s participation on behalf of the Ministry was overseen by advisor Katerina Tselou.
The Greek delegation showcased works by artists Eleni Vernadaki, Alexandros Tzannis, Cleopatra Tsali, and Maro Fasouli, capturing the dynamic integration of handicrafts into contemporary visual arts.
This participation marks a significant milestone for the promotion of Greek handicrafts and simultaneously highlights the active role of the University of Western Macedonia in the international cultural dialogue and in strengthening the creative industries.
