The University of Western Macedonia is establishing a Model United Nations (MUN) Team, offering students the opportunity to participate in simulations of international organizations and to gain first-hand experience of how international diplomacy operates.
Model United Nations is an internationally recognized educational initiative in which participants assume the role of diplomats, representing countries or international organizations in simulated sessions. Through this process, students address international issues, draft resolutions and develop essential skills in negotiation and structured debate.
Benefits of participation in the MUN Team
Participation in the team contributes to the development of key academic and professional skills, including:
- public speaking and confidence in formal discussions
- critical thinking and analysis of international issues
- diplomatic communication, negotiation and collaboration
- familiarity with the procedures of international organizations
- networking with students interested in international and European affairs
- preparation for participation in MUN conferences in Greece and abroad
Who can participate
The team is open to:
- students of all years and from all Departments of the University of Western Macedonia
- individuals interested in international relations, political science, European policies, economics, law, management, communication and global affairs
No prior experience in Model United Nations is required. Guidance and training will be provided through preparatory mock sessions.
The MUN Team operates under the academic supervision of
Professor Georgia Broni,
Department of International and European Economic Studies, University of Western Macedonia.
