The University of Western Macedonia (UOWM) has joined the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) network, marking another milestone in its international journey. This development underscores UOWM’s strategic orientation towards internationalization and concurrently its commitment to address global issues through education and research. UOWM now stands among more than 1800 institutions from 150 countries that share common values and aims towards a more just and more sustainable future.
From ensuring equal access to education and defending human rights, to protecting the environment, promoting peace and enhancing intercultural dialogue, the University of Western Macedonia is planning initiatives with the active involvement of students, researchers and faculty members. By embracing the principles of UNAI, the academic community grants UOWM a meaningful role in international dialogue.
The UNAI initiative was launched in 2010 to bring together universities and research institutions from all over the world under the principles of the United Nations, promoting actions and good practices related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within this framework, the University of Western Macedonia adopts these goals as a “roadmap” for teaching, research and social engagement. Through initiatives that support sustainability, participation and innovation, UOWM aims to inspire change and deliver tangible impact both locally and globally.
